Baltic - Hitchhiking

Baltic states: Lithuania, Latvia and Poland

When we planned our trip to Baltic states, we wanted to reach Tallinn in Estonia, but we had just 14days for our journey so we kinda knew that we will not end up there.
So duo Grej was ready to go!
Duo Grej: Me and Klér, my sister, best friend and best travel buddy.

We started with bus. We took a bus from Prague,Czech Republic to Warsaw,Poland. It takes about 11hours to get there I think.
So we arrived to bus station in Warsaw around midnight. We started asked people about direction to the city center of Warsaw. But people started telling us that it's dangerous in the middle of night instead of helping us. It little bit scared Klér and honestly I wasn't OK either. Anyway we needed place to stay. Hostel in bus station was really expensive (50€ for both of us) and wasn't nice at all. So we took a bus to citycentre when we found it finally and went to closest pub for a beer and wi-fi ☺ to find a cheap and available hostel. We did it, we found it and we had finally some sleep.
Next day... we went look around old town in Warsaw.

After tour around the old city, we took a bus to the edge of Warsaw and started hitchhiking. We were lucky and stopped a truck just after 10minutes of standing with thumb up. This men was going directly to the Riga(!!) but we wanted drop of in Kaunas, Lithuania because we wanted travel to Nida which is on the west coast. So we've been in this car around 8hours if I can remeber. It's always slower with big lorry because they have to drive slower and they have to stop for duty breaks. Anyway, he dropped us somewhere around Kaunas. I was tired and I didn't pay attention so he drove a bit further than we wanted. So it was 3am and we were standing in the middle of highways in completely dark. So, first night we slept in sleep bags on a car park behind some shopping center. Nice! ☺
Kaunas...

I Kaunas was really hard to hitchhike. I actually don't know why. It was great place but... ? Who knows. There were lots of people in front of us which tried to hitchhike, so we were waiting patiently. But we got a ride finally. It was such a funny woman. She took us to Klaipéda. So thank u very much☺
We stayed in hostel in Klaipéda and next morning... we were on the road again. To the Nida in Curonian Spit which is sand dune peninsula. Northern half belonds to the Lithuania, but the southern portion belongs to the Kaliningrad,Russia. It was hard hitchhiking there but definitely worth it! I just fell in love with this place! We stayed at camp there.

Next day we continued to Palanga and then Liepája.
...and we didn't like Liepája. But we had to stay there, because it was night already so...
Next day we finally arrived to Riga, Lithuania. Yupee! We stayed in this hostel for two nights and we decided not to go to Estonia because the weather was awful and it would take us ages to get there. So instead of going norther, we stayed in Riga.

We were waiting for better weather but the rain was still on, so we've been chating and we booked a bus ticket from Riga, Latvia to Vilnius, Lithuania. I have to say that it was kinda relief. We were moving again even that the weather tried to stop us☺ It was 3am when we arrived to Vilnius. I booked hostel on the way. In the bus was wi-fi (yay!) I think the price was around 9€ per night/person and I have to say it was one of the best hostels so far. (Hostel Jamaika)
Next day was about wondering around the capital city.

In the afternoon we started hitchhiking back home. By two cars to Mariampolé where we stopped another car - first and we hope last idiot. Polish guy. Really not nice experience, but we survived, we took a lesson, grabbed our stuff and "tudum.. on the road again ..tudumtu":D
First...In the morning we weren't lucky, we walked few hours, noone stopped. But than we got a car, few cars actually and we end up in Poznan, Poland where we were camping on the grass at petrol station. Next day to Wroclav and then Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. Yay! We got a ride to Prague and then we tok a night train to Pilsen, to home! Excellent two weeks! ☺

...and then I had one week to move out from my apartment and to pack bags because do you know what...? I was moving to Finland!! ☺
